Another incredible aspect of the new Universal Life Cyprus Ultra winter race is the snow that falls on the highest mountain range of Cyprus called Troodos. Few ever think of the Mediterranean sunshine island of Cyprus in such a way, but actually we get up to two meters of snow and very cold temperatures at the top of Troodos which is nearly 2km high at it's peak known as Mount Olympus. The snow typically falls from mid December to the end of March and with four ski slopes, complete with ski lifts at the Cyprus Ski Resort, we can offer once again something very unique to the Cyprus Ultra race series.
So just imagine, running one of the world's greatest trail ultramarathons on January 16th 2016, recovering the next day in warm sunshine at the Limassol beaches, then hitting the ski slopes of Troodos for some skiing and fun in the snow! For our next race of January 16th 2016, together with our local partners, we'll be offering package ski trips with Sled Dogs Snowskates, snow skate lessons (if needed) and transportation to Mount Olympus in our special fleet of Land Rovers courtesy of our local partners. 4 wheel drive vehicles are a must to get to the top of Mount Olympus safely, so if you plan on taking a drive there yourself during race week, please make sure you rent a large size 4x4 vehicle. We can arrange for the sale or hire of Sled Dogs Snowskates, which offer hassle free fun on the slopes, they are a lot easier to master than snowboards and traditional skis and you don't have to worry about renting equipment at the ski resort when you get here, we'll take care of everything for you! So make sure you pack suitable clothing for some Après Ultra Skiing :) Pre booking is a must, for more details drop us a line at [email protected] |
