Are you a long distance runner? Do you consider yourself a jogger or a runner? Do you love trail running? Are you up to the challenge? If you are, you should definitely check out the Cyprus Ultra. After you do that then you have no more excuses between you and the finish line, if you ever get to the finish line that is! The races of Cyprus Ultra are not for the faint-hearted as I learned firsthand back in 2012 when I tried to run the 135 mile Cyprus Ultramarathon under the scorching Cyprus sun and the moral breaking humidity. I end up going to the hospital with serious signs of hyponatremia. If it wasn’t for the fast actions and professional behaviour of the race organisers I wouldn’t be here telling you how dangerous and at the same time exciting and rewarding the experience was for me. If you are someone that is looking for genuine adventure, then you need to experience first hand what it means to participate and run a Cyprus Ultra race. My second time I tried for the 50 miler, (now it’s upgraded to a 60 miler!) after doing about half of the race the humidity got me again, I couldn’t breathe so I had to stop. It’s not just the difficulty of the terrain you are up against it’s the weather conditions that will test you to your core. My third time I said to try my luck with the 50k race. I didn’t train enough for it so I end up doing about half of the distance and then stopping. This time it was the lack of training. All my previous failures, each and every one of them, taught me something and that is never to give up, and always learn from your mistakes, that’s why I love Cyprus Ultra races, they will turn you into a winner whether you like or not! That’s why MAY 20th 2017 you are going to see me at the starting line of the 50k race again doing what I do best, to run and never give up!
